Michelle Obama: Trendsetter Turned Beauty Icon?

Why pay a celebrity to endorse your product, when all you have to do is name it after Michelle Obama? Khuraira is following in fashion's footsteps with the Lady Obama Special Edition lipstick. Complete your Lady O Look for Less with this $20 rouge and part of the proceeds will support breast cancer awareness. Well, no. My mistake. When someone discloses the secret to that frizz-proof hair, THEN the look will be complete.

First Lady Style For Less

Do you all remember the night of August 28? Barack Obama officially accepted the presidential nomination, but us fashionistas were mesmerized by Lady O...and that dress. "Who is it by and when can we get it?" The very next morning we got our answers: Thakoon Panichgul and NEVER. With a price tag of $1,250, our hopes of achieving Lady O's style were quickly shut down. Fast-forward to four months later and Target has come to our rescue! Michelle's recession-friendly look is here! From December 28 through January 31, Target's Go International collection will feature Thakoon Panichgul! For just $14.99 to $44.99, we can now have a piece of the First Lady's style. Check out some of the key looks above. Hopefully, Michelle's other favorite designers will take note. Ehem, Jason Wu.

Battle of the Inauguration Gowns

People. Please. Get off this site and direct your attention here. WWD has posted 34 extraordinary visions for Michelle on Inauguration Day! Christian, and Zac, and Tuleh. OH MY! What is Lady O to do? I say the Rodarte or Chado Ralph Rucci stunners. Both designers suit her taste for non-mainstream labels and the romanticism of those pieces are perfect for The Met's Costume Institute 40 years from now. Only 48 days will tell!

Michelle Wows in Wu

For all you young designers out there looking for a little extra PR, look no further than the White House because Michelle Obama is your best bet. On "The Barbara Walter's Special" last week, she let us in on another designer favorite, Jason Wu. True to style, Michelle opted for a form-fitting silk printed dress from Wu's spring 2009 collection. And WWD says she has more of his threads in store for us! I drooled over his show in September so you know my imagination is running wild with all of the possibilities, right?! I think these Wu frocks are very Lady O.
And I'm sure Michelle won't have any trouble accessorizing these pieces since Barack just gave her a $30K token of his appreciation.
