I just love it when Lady O comes to town! It seems like she whips out the greatest hits just for us, and last night she did it again. This time for her dinner + Broadway show date night with the hubby. The First Lady's LBDs always do her justice, and this one is no exception. Ruffles, a square neck, and just below-the-knee length are the perfect details for her statuesque figure. A blue clutch added a splash of color, a cropped cardigan kept her warm on the way back to D.C., and the Lantern heels by Jimmy Choo wrapped it all up. P.S. On a brighter note, Michelle Obama was all flowers and sunshine for her visit to Bancroft Elementary School on Friday. She wore a yellow cardigan over a floral button down shirt with pale blue cropped pants.
The Obamas traveled to Camp David today for the holiday weekend, and the First Lady is off to a super cute start. She brightened up a grey frock with a yellow floral cardigan and metallic flats. Proper accessories were also in order: sunglasses, hoop earrings, cute tote, and private helicopter.
The First Lady is on the June 1 issue of Time magazine, and the story The Meaning of Michelle Obama is worth a read. Also, check out Behind the Scenes with Michelle Obama for candid photos of Lady O (and full shots of Monday night's Azzedine Alaia dress!).
I hope the First Lady got a standing ovation this evening at the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala just for this dress alone. Please excuse me while I gush, but I mean, the details. I just can't take it: peter pan collar! fitted bodice! full skirt skirt! metallic fabric! The past two weeks have been nothing but sartorial hits for Michelle Obama, and of course she saves the best for New York. *5/20 Update: Dress is by Azzedine Alaia!
The First Lady looked quite gorgeous at the ribbon cutting of the new American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art today. The shade of this Isaac Mizrahi dress and coordinating coat was made for her complexion and the cut is faultless. Can't wait to see what she wears to the American Ballet tonight!
Who wouldn't listen to someone dressed like this? The First Lady exuded substance and style today for her commencement address to the first graduating class of the University of California, Merced. It looks like she dusted off the Michael Kors LBD from her official White House portrait, and adorned it with a black flower brooch for a simple, sensible look.
Lanvin never fails a lady, and Michelle Obama certainly is no exception. Example: the designer's navy and white polka dot silk dress she wore to meet students at Ferebee Hope elementary school today. Playful (plastic discs, tubes, and beads on the shoulder) yet, refined (draped bodice, fitted skirt). It was the perfect follow up to her laid-back glam for last night's Evening of Poetry, Music and the Spoken Word at the White House. The First Lady was simply divine in an abstract Basso & Brooke blouse. There is something so classy, dazzling even, about this look. Could it be the white cropped pants? The gold drop earrings? Or the swoop bang? Whatever it is, I adore.
The First Lady spoke to the Corporation for National and Community Service this afternoon. She wore a basic top and a black full, pleated skirt with a white striped hem. A classic, fuss-free look. Lady O covered up with the Alaia cardigan she wore in Prague and Germany. *5/13 Update: Skirt is by Jasmin Shokrian

The First Lady was quite festive this evening at a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Grand Foyer of the White House. She looked radiant in a yellow jeweled dress with a tulip skirt and drop earrings. Earlier today, Michelle Obama visited the Lamb Public Charter School and enjoyed a Cinco de Mayo performance by students. The last time we saw this J. Crew featherweight cashmere argyle cardigan it was quirky and fun. Today, in lavender and paired with a full pleated skirt plus python flats, the piece brought out her inner school teacher
The Obamas stepped out for dinner at Citronelle in Georgetown yesterday evening followed by a walk along the South Lawn of the White House. Michelle Obama went for a relaxed polished look in a traditional white button down shirt with modern details-a drawstring back, low neckline, and raised collar. Black cropped pants and sandals fell in line with the simplicity of her outfit while a sleek bun and blue clutch added subtle touches of elegance.
